Home is where the heart is

Did you know that our nation’s single biggest killer is heart disease?

It’s responsible for a third of all deaths in Aotearoa- that’s one death every 90 minutes.

Did you know that YOU can help do something to change this?

Lives can be saved, if we find new ways to prevent, treat, and even cure heart disease. This means we must invest in research.

This is the Heart Foundation’s mission: to put a stop to premature deaths and to enable the more than 175,000 Kiwis living with cardiovascular disease to live full lives. Since 1970, they have invested $85 million into groundbreaking research projects and cardiology training, including:

  • training to use balloons or stents to open arteries during a heart attack – a now common treatment
  • rheumatic fever prevention
  • investigating links between heart disease and depression
  • world-first study to improve atrial fibrillation treatment

To help fund this mission, the Heart Foundation has been running the iconic Heart Foundation Lottery for nearly 30 years – raising millions of dollars. The proceeds from each lottery ticket help to fund vital heart research projects, overseas training for New Zealand cardiologists, heart-health awareness initiatives, and support programmes for Kiwis living with heart disease. Because of incredible partners and supporters, the Heart Foundation Lottery has been able to give away thousands of dollars in cash prizes, cars, luxury travel packages, and 137 brand-new homes to lucky people all over New Zealand!

It makes our hearts sing to bring happiness to so many.

We are ready to give-away our 138th house in Lottery No. 138!!
