We caught up with one of our FY 2020 Agents of Excellence, Scott McElhinney, to discuss his busy morning routine with two toddlers in tow, his team at Barfoot & Thompson Pukekohe and more.

What are your morning rituals?

I’m not a super early morning person - I’ve got a young family with two toddlers at home, so mornings tend to consist of getting them ready. I also like to have my morning coffee and check out the latest listings on realestate.co.nz to see what's happening in my market. It’s really important for me to be up to date with what is happening on a day-to-day basis.

What was your first-ever sales job?

Well, real estate was my first ever sales job! I started in Australia on the Gold Coast and then moved home to Franklin because I love it here. I think it's not so much a job; it's more of a lifestyle that I really enjoy.

What is the best piece of professional advice you have been given?

I’ve been given so much advice over the years; something that stands out is success attracts success. It's something I often go back to.

Who inspires you?

So many people! Here at Barfoot & Thompson Pukekohe, we have some elite performers. This team is doing some big things in humble ways – helping people with their real estate goals in a professional, friendly, fun environment.

What do you love about working as a real estate agent?

I might have the best job or career in the world. Being appointed someone's agent and having the responsibility of working for them to get them the best result is a very humbling position to be in. When you are doing the best for your client, that’s the thing I love the most.
