As the new year blossoms many of us are thinking about ways to refresh our home in 2017. Add a pop of colour to your property by painting your front door.

Shelley Ferguson, editor of Your Home and Garden magazine, says: “Rock a coloured front door. If you have a small space you don’t have much opportunity for impact, so work what you’ve got. My front door is chartreuse yellow (a fancy term for mustard) and it makes me happy every time I approach.”

Here are five front doors that will inspire you to pick up the paint pot in 2017.

The owners of this modern Bay of Plenty home have, like Shelley, opted for a warm yellow colour. Easy-to-maintain potted plants add a touch of style to the property.

A statement front door doesn’t need to be a neon colour. Consider a rich shade of black or navy to make your place pop. A matching mailbox is a great way to tie the look together.

If your property is very similar to your neighbours’, a stand-out front door will help add a touch of something special to your place.

If you’re working with a small space, a brightly light front door is a fantastic way to add character to a property, like this bungalow in Tauranga.
